Every student has a voice but not every student has been given the tools to use it. Research shows that strong media literacy skills predict higher civic participation and academic achievement. When teens create media about issues and politics, 80% feel like their voices are more powerful — yet not all students have equal access to these opportunities.
Stranger Fruit Universe (SFU) bridges that gap through The New Era, a project-based media lab for grades 6–12. Using professional A/V equipment, students lead the conversations and produce their own podcasts and documentary films about the issues shaping their communities.
